Free will vs Pre-Destination.

A man approached a scholar to know the difference between free will and Pre-Destination.

Man asked: O Imam! Which of my actions are by my free will and which are Pre-destined?

Scholar replied: Dear, Lift your right leg.

Man said: Ok!

Scholar said: That's free will.

Scholare asked: Now lift your left leg .

Man said: I can't.

Scholar replied: Dear, that's what  Pre-destination is.

Misconception:

Many people have a misconception that since god has written down for all human beings their fate, why then should they be held responsible for the evil actions that they do.

Islam believes that man has been given the power of free will.Islam also believes that Allah has written down for every person whether he will go to heaven or hell. But this decision is based on Allah's knowledge of the future. Allah knows how the person will use his free will. It is man himself who makes decisions and do actions.

For example, in a class of thirty students, there are three students, who are inattentive, bunk the classes and do not do their home work regularly. If the teacher warns them that they will fail and when they appear for the examination, they really fail. who is to blame for their failure?

The teacher predicted their failure based on their behavior in the class. So also Allah knows the future of the person and knows how that person will use his free will, whether he will use it for the good of mankind or will he be evil.So it is man himself will be held responsible for his actions that he did of his own free will.

Assalamualaikum wa arahmatullah Br.Hamid

May Allah reward you Jannatul Firdaus in the company of our beloved Prophet PBUH for your work on your Blog!

That was an awesome story Masha Allah! Here's a hadith I read today, about Qadr and free will...

Volume 9, Book 93, Number 642:
Narrated 'Ali:
While the Prophet was in a funeral procession, he took a stick and started scraping the earth with it and said, "There is none of you but has his place assigned either in Hell or in Paradise." They (the people) said, "Shall we not depend upon that (and give up doing any deeds)?' He said, " Carry on doing (good deeds) for everybody will find it easy to do such deeds as will lead him to his destined place for which he has been created ." (And then the Prophet recited the Verse):-- 'As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah...' (92.5)
[Sahih Al Bukhari]

walaikum salam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

No matter what work I do, I feel I will be held accountable in hereafter, if I fall short in fulfilling the obligations that I'm binded to, be it of my Creator or of creation.

Very good of you to share this relevant and important hadith.

JAZAKALLAHU AHSANAL JAZA.
