A. Mostly babies are born after nine months ( nine is an odd number and Allah loves odd) and they are sinless. And a  muslim who fasts the whole month of ramadan (9th month of lunar calendar) sincerely fulfilling all the obligations, will be forgiven for all his previous sins and will become as pure as that of a new born baby. This is the gift of god to his slave at the end of the 9th month on the day of Eid.

Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated that he heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say:

"On the morning of Eid, Allah sends down the Mala'ikah, the Angels to the surface of the earth where they take their positions at access points of roads, calling out with a voice that is heard by all except Mankind and Jinn:

"O Ummah of Muhammed (SAW) come out from your houses towards a Lord who is noble and gracious, who grants much and pardons the major sins."

When the people proceed towards the places for Salat-ul-Eid, Allah says to the angels: "What indeed is the reward of that employee who had rendered his services?"

The angels reply: "O Lord and Master, it is only right that he should receive his reward in full for his services"

Allah swt then says:
"I call you to witness, O My Mala'ikah, that for their having fasted during the month of Ramadhan, and for their having stood before Me in prayer by night, I have granted to them as reward My pleasure and have granted them forgiveness.

[ A similar hadith is reported by Anas (radhiyallahu anhu) in Bayhaqi]

The Four Questions.

A man went to Hazrath Ali bin Abi Talib (r) and asked the answers for the following four questions:
1. What is Wajeb (Obligatory) and what is Awjab (Most Obligatory)?
2. What is Qareeb (Near) and what is Aqrab (Nearest)?
3. What is Ajeeb (Strange) and what is A’ajab (Strangest)?
4. What is Sa’ab (Difficult) and what is Asa’ab (Most Difficult)?
Hazrath Ali bin Abi Talib (r) replied as follows:
1. Obligatory is the obedience of God and most obligatory is to abandon sins.
2. Near is the Day of Judgment and nearest is the death.
3. Strange is this World and strangest is to love this world.
4. Difficult is grave and most difficult is going into it without any preparation.
May Almighty Allah (SWT) give us power to follow the advice of Hazarth Ali bin Abi Talib (r)!

Free will vs Pre-Destination.

A man approached a scholar to know the difference between free will and Pre-Destination.

Man asked: O Imam! Which of my actions are by my free will and which are Pre-destined?

Scholar replied: Dear, Lift your right leg.

Man said: Ok!

Scholar said: That's free will.

Scholare asked: Now lift your left leg .

Man said: I can't.

Scholar replied: Dear, that's what  Pre-destination is.

Misconception:

Many people have a misconception that since god has written down for all human beings their fate, why then should they be held responsible for the evil actions that they do.

Islam believes that man has been given the power of free will.Islam also believes that Allah has written down for every person whether he will go to heaven or hell. But this decision is based on Allah's knowledge of the future. Allah knows how the person will use his free will. It is man himself who makes decisions and do actions.

For example, in a class of thirty students, there are three students, who are inattentive, bunk the classes and do not do their home work regularly. If the teacher warns them that they will fail and when they appear for the examination, they really fail. who is to blame for their failure?

The teacher predicted their failure based on their behavior in the class. So also Allah knows the future of the person and knows how that person will use his free will, whether he will use it for the good of mankind or will he be evil.So it is man himself will be held responsible for his actions that he did of his own free will.

The Slap Is My Answer.

There was a young man who went overseas to study for quite some time. When he returned, he asked his parents to find him a religious scholar or any expert who could answer his Three Questions.

Finally, his parents were able to find a Muslim scholar.

"Who are you? Can you answer my questions?," asked the young man

"I am one of Allah (سبحانه وتعالى ) slaves and Insha'Allah (with the will of Allah), I will be able to answer your questions," replied the Scholar.!!

"Are you sure? A lot of Professors and experts were not able to answer my questions," replied the young man !!

"I will try my best, with the help of Allah (سبحانه وتعالى )" !!

"I have 3 questions," began the man :

1. Does God exist? If so, show me His shape.

2. What is takdir (fate)?

3. If shaitan (Devil) was created from the fire, why at the end he will be thrown to hell that is also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him at all, since Shaitan (Devil) and the hell were created from fire. Did God not think of it this far?

Suddenly, the Scholar slapped the young man's face very hard!

The young man, who was shocked and hurt by the slap became confused, "Why do are you angry at me?" he asked

"I am not angry," answered the scholar, "The slap is my answer to your three questions."

"I really don't understand," the young man said. He was really confused.

The scholar began to explain, "How did you feel after I slapped you?," he asked

"Of course, I felt the pain. it hurt," he replied

"So do you believe that pain exists?" the scholar asked

"Yes."

"Now Show me the shape of the pain!" said the wise Scholar

"I cannot," the young man replied

"That is my first answer. All of us feel God's existence without being able to see His shape... Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me?," the ascholar replied

"No"

"Did you ever think that you will get a slap from me, today?," the scholar continued

"No."

"That is takdir (fate) " The scholar continued, "My hand that I used to slap you, what is it created from?"

"It is created from flesh," replied the young man

"How about your face, what is it created from?"

"Flesh, as well" replied the young man

"How did you feel after I slapped you?"

"In pain."

"Even though Shaitan (satan) and Jahunnum (Hell-fire) were created from fire, if Allah wants, insha'Allah (God willing), the Hell-fire will become a very painful place for Shaitan (Devil)" ended the wise Scholar.

The wise Scholar had answered all three of the tough questions by one slap.

"He gives wisdom to whoever He wills and whoever has been given wisdom has been given great good. But no one pays heed except the people of intelligence." (Qur'an 2:269)

A Beautiful & Creative Dialouge.

Alcoholic: Do you think I am doing wrong by eating a date?
Scholar: No.

Alcoholic: And if i ate with it some grass?
Scholar: There is nothing wrong with that.

Alcoholic: And if I were to wash them down with water?
Scholar: Drink and enjoy.

Alcoholic: Since all of that is permissible, then why do you forbid us from alcohol, which consists of the above mentioned ingredients?
Scholar: Well,If I poured water on top of you, would you be hurt?
Alcoholic: No it would not.

Scholar: And if I were to sprinkle dirt in that, would you be hurt?
Alcoholic: That would not harm me.

Scholar: But if I were to mix water and dirt together and through a process make a large brick from those two elements, and then were I to throw that large brick at you, would you be hurt?
Alcoholic: That would kill me!

Scholar: The same goes with alcohol.

Six Questions.

Once the great Imam Al-Ghazali posed 6 questions to his students as follows;-

Q1 – “What is very close to us in this world?”

The students gave all kind of answers such as our parents, spouse, close friends, our children and etc.

Al-Ghazali replied:-“ Yes, those answers are quite correct but the perfect answer is ‘death’ because Allah SWT has promised us that those who lives will definitely die” (refer Sura Ali Imran 185)

Q2 – What is the furthest from us in this world?”

The students gave all kind of answers such as the country of China, the moon, the sun and etc.

Al-Ghazali replied:“ Yes, those answers are quite correct but the perfect answer is ‘our past’ because in whatever the circumstances , whoever we are and whatever vehicle we use we cannot go back into the past. So we have to always take care of today and the coming days with righteous deeds that is taught by Islam”

Q3 – “What is the biggest in this world?”

The students gave all kind of answers such as the mountain, the earth, the sun and etc..
Al-Ghazali replied:-“ Yes, those answers are quite correct but the perfect answer is ‘temptation (Nafs)’. So we must always be cautious with our temptation so as not to allow it to drive us to hell (Jahannam)” Refer Sura Al A’raf 179)

Q4 - “What is the heaviest in this world?”

The students gave all kind of answers such as iron, steel, the elephant and etc...
Al-Ghazali replied:-“ Yes, those answers are quite correct but the perfect answer is ‘being trustworthy (Amanah)’ Al Ghazali explain “ The plants, trees, animals and the mountain could not accept the task of being the caliph of this world but human, with arrogance and conceit accepted the task and so much so many human beings are being thrown into hell (Jahannam) by Allah SWt because they have breached the trust others place on them. Refer Sura Al Ahzab 72)

Q5 - “What is the lightest in this world?”

The students gave all kind of answers such as cotton, dust, the wind and etc...

Al-Ghazali replied:-“ Yes, those answers are quite correct but the perfect answer is ‘neglecting the salat (daily prayer’. Al Ghazali explain this is especially true as people are known to simply neglect the salat because they are having a business meeting , having to work etc

Q6 - “What is the sharpest in this world?”

The students gave all kind of answers such as the sword, knife and etc...
Al-Ghazali replied:-“ Yes, those answers are quite correct but the perfect answer is ‘human tongue’. Al Ghazali explains that with their tongues human arrogantly will offend and hurt the feeling of others.

The life of the heart is knowledge; so preserve it, The death of the heart is ignorance; so avoid it. Your best provision is true devotion; so provide it. This advice of mine is enough for you; so heed it. - Imam al-Ghazâlî
